1. Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using Manuscript (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these
Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Description of the service
Manuscript is a Windows desktop application for drafting, organizing, and editing long-form
fiction manuscripts, including chapter and scene structure, outline and notes, and word count
tracking.
3. Your content
You retain all rights to the manuscripts, notes, and other content you create in the App.
Sightline Technologies, LLC claims no ownership over anything you write.
4. Your responsibilities
The App stores your work locally on your own device and does not back it up anywhere else. You
are responsible for keeping your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, including
before uninstalling the App or making changes to your device.
5. No account, no subscriptions
Manuscript does not require an account and has no paid features, subscriptions, or in-app
purchases. It is distributed through the Microsoft Store, subject to that platform's terms.
6. Intellectual property
The App itself, including its design, code, and branding, is owned by Sightline Technologies,
LLC. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or redistribute the App except as permitted by
applicable law.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or
implied, including as to data loss or uninterrupted operation.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sightline Technologies, LLC shall not be liable for any
indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of written content, arising from
your use of the App.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are
posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of
law principles.
